A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia where she resides and her studio is located, Katie is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with a B.Sc. in Human Kinetics. She is also a graduate of the Academy of Realist Art (ARA), a private institution teaching drawing and painting in the old master tradition, and studied icon writing with Master Iconographer, Olexa Mezentsev, at the St. Vladimir Institute.
She works in several mediums, including graphite, red chalk, watercolor, egg tempera and oil.
Katie draws inspiration from a range of artists, both classical and contemporary.
She is currently developing a body of work which includes the genres of iconography, portraiture, landscape and still life.
